The water supply system of the Bugasong Water District (BWD) comes from two sources namely the Cubay Deepwell source located at Cubay South, Bugasong, Antique and Camangahan Spring source,

located at Barangay Camangahan, Bugasong, Antique. These two (2) sources support the water requirements of the 1,504 service connections within the BWD service coverage.

Product water of BWD is intended for household or domestic consumers, schools, public and private hospitals and commercial establishments. Water is safe for drinking, and meets the standard for Potable Drinking Water of the PNSDW.

The Camangahan spring source located at an elevation of 20 m. amsl and which is 2 kilometers South of the Poblacion.  It consists of two intakes. The main intake which is connected to abandoned chlorination box has a discharge of about 0.5L/s. The small intake nearby contributes practically negligible yield. The Camangahan source conveys water to the distribution system through a reservoir downstream via 75 mm diameter UPVC pipeline. It also made up of concrete materials and almost 93 years in Service.

From the Camangahan spring source water is delivered to the consuming public thru 3” transmission lines, 1 ½” distribution lines and 1” to ½” service connection lines. During heavy rains, Camangahan Spring is affected by surface run-off, thus making it turbid during these times.

Bugasong Water District Pumping Station is located at Cubay South, Bugasong, Antique. Cubay South Deepwell is well drilled. The Pumping Station was constructed and equipped with electromechanical equipment, generating set and accessories. A chlorinator was also installed to improve water quality.

Water from the production well is delivered to the water consuming public thru a conveyance system of pipes ranging from 8” to  6” and distribution lines ranging from 4”,3”,2” and 1 ½” and 1” to ½“ of service connection lines.

Chlorination is the main water treatment procedure to render raw water potable, safe and clean prior to its distribution to the water consuming public.

The district maintains its two sources since it started operation last 1991 with a 390 consumers. This year, the district is serving 1, 504 connections with 9,024 populations with two water sources. There is an increasing demand for water supply but the water source remains constant. As expected, water shortage is always felt especially during the dry seasons, particularly in the months of March, April, and May.

Bugasong residents rely on Water District and privately-drilled shallow wells as source of water supply. For shallow wells, hand pumps mostly jetmatic pumps are the commonly used equipment to draw water.

Moreover the Deep well and spring source are not sufficient to meet the demand of the area. The spring either dries up or gives a considerably low yield during summer. The Kanapay spring and additional water source through deep well drilling should be considered for water supply development.

The Water System had encountered problems some of which are numerous leaks in its transmission and distribution pipelines and reduction of available water supply at the service area.
